Alex, while we are yet not that many on the blog, lets also discuss the question Who? should be invited to rhe conference. Initially I think we talked about the borad members of Protu and Protus, and maybe not even everyone of these either. However, I already see that some of the leaders ("campingbilarna" :-) could be interested and valuable to bring on. OR are you thinking that any member/participant/leader could be invited? What is your opinion there?

Very good question, Claes!
ReplyDeleteI had no clear conception of whom we would invite. In a way a little conference would allow for everyone to get to know each other but on the other hand one could think "The more, the merrier." In case of a large participation we could divide into smaller groups during the program - method widely in use also on Protu camps.
I am also not sure whether all our board members have time to participate so I would extend the invitation beyond the board. Maybe at least people who have already participated in this project should be invited.
In a way I also think that a big part of the Protu spirit is openness and thus one could think that anyone in the hosting country could be free to come. I doubt we would have too many participants. The problem again is how much participation from abroad the budget can sustain.
I believe that the participation of at least some young and adult leaders from outside the board would be very valuable. From our side we do in a way have a wider hierarchy inside the organization. I don't mean this literally but it does facilitate things if we decide to limit participation only to a certain "status" of people. Personally, I would hate the idea.
What I mean is that, besides the board, we have the active people in the subsections of whom many could be interested. Further, there are people who are not active in the subsections but lead the trainings. Even further, we have the ordinary camp leaders. Input from every "category" of people would give you a different perspective on our organization.
Finally, I honestly mean no offence by talking about different statuses inside Protu.
Oh yes, I'll now mail the board
I would certainly like to see more people from both of the organizations participating to the seminar than just the boards.
ReplyDeleteOf course there's the problem/question of financing the travelling costs and if they are to be paid by the respective organizations, there could perhaps be some "prioritizing" on whom to pay to take part. At least participants from all the Finnish subsections would be nice to have around, they are the experts on their respective areas of the functions in Protu. Having a PowerPoint slide about a subsection just isn't as effective and nice than meeting a person who tells about his/her voluntary work on the organization. :)
The more the merrier anyways, as that'll certainly offer a wider perspective to everyone. That is to say: I wouldn't like too much about the idea of arranging the seminar as a "cabinet seminar" with closed doors.
